First Loves Blogfest

Alex J. Cavanaugh’s First Loves Blogfest has to be the hardest blogfest/bloghop I’ve done so far. I mean, my first loves of movie, song/band, book and person? Hard to single out some in that. But let’s give it a bash, who knows, maybe you’ll learn something about me along the way and when you’re done reading here, you can pop over to Alex’s blog and see what first loves others had.
First Movie
There are so many movies that I recall loving. Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, Pocahontas … I could go on forever. I loved them all. I could recite them all. (Given a few moments, I probably still could when it comes to The Lion King and parts of Beauty and the Beast.)
But the one I recall from my earliest memories is … The Last Unicorn.
Now I cannot embed the opening scene. So click on the link and dig that song. Brings tears to my eyes now. I must have first watched it when I was real young for all I had were vague memories of “a skeleton that drinks” and “a clock you could walk through”. Along with the unicorn, of course, and a “big red bull”.
Took me years to track it down. So hard when I couldn’t recall what it was called. Thank goodness for the internet. Now it’s also one of my daughter’s favourite movies too.
First Song/Band
First band … uh. Alright then, first song … Cat’s in the Cradle!
Really! I’ve old memories of my father singing this to me when I was four: it was just the two of us, we were in the middle of moving house, I didn’t have half my things with me and I was all tucked up in a new bed.
I adore so many others songs from right across the singing spectrum, but only this one can give me that recollection.
First Book
Ah! Seriously. The first book I loved? Um … oh darn. I’ve read so many and loved them to different degrees. What was the first one I fell for?
Okay, okay. Let’s think through this logically. The first book I recall is a little horse novel called Pony Problem. David Eddings’ Elenium series was a delightful read too, I simply adored Sparhawk and, after a second reading, Talon.
But neither is my first love. That title goes to Dragonflight. I’ve read the book at least five/six times now. That I can remember anyway. I’ve favourite scenes I can darn near pick out by opening the book, so maybe it’s more.
What can I say? I’m addicted to draggies.
First Person
Are we talking an actual real person here? Why that would have to go to the father of my child. I stared at this section for ages and, honestly, I can’t think of anyone else I could possibly love more. ^_^

  1. I love blogfests. Any blogfest.
Strange when I think I'd no idea what they were only five months ago. But since I made the goal to do one a month, I've been loving them. ^_^

  3. Ahhh, a Disney girl after my own heart. Must say though that I have never heard of the last unicorn. Could be it never caught on here in Norway. I will have to do some research on that one. Have a great day!

  4. Never got over my disney love. Honestly, I don't care who it's marketed for, if it's a good movie, I'll watch.

Just don't ask me to see a horror/thriller flick.

  5. Oh yes, Eddings was good. Like McCaffrey, I was sad for ages after reading about his death. Fortunately I have their books, so I can still keep their worlds alive every time I read.

  6. Dragonflight!!! the Last Unicorn! We have very similar tastes. I actually didn't discover Cat's Cradle until my 20's, but I LOVE that song, and Moonshadow, too. Love your last sentence too.

  7. I haven't yet found a copy of The Last Unicorn. I must remember to add it to my 'looking for' list.

My first love was a first for a lot of things. Date, kiss … He likes telling people that I was 'perfectly happy to be crazy cat lady with a dozen kitties, then I met him.' ^_^ (I still have five cats. To be fair, one came with him)

  8. I remember The Last Unicorn. 🙂 That's awesome that you love the father of your child. I think there is always a special bond between parents.
