Being in the second week, I should’ve passed the halfway point. And I have, even with my self-allotted two days off. It seems I’ve managed to sort out my dear little assassin’s personality hissy fit of jumping from cold killer of the defenceless to predatory seducer of the closeted. Dylan, just let him get into your pants already, ffs.
But to do that, In Pain and Blood had to gain another chapter, making it a whopper at 53 chapters, each looking to be around 4200 words… give or take a few hundred. As you might’ve noticed by my word counts down the sidebar there, the new total is looking to be 220k.
Sadly, that means I may not complete the novel by the end of November. Not with an extra 17k on top of everything. I might be able to whittle it down a thousand or so words through the coming weeks, but finishing? Maybe mid-December.
I blame the extra three chapters. Evil necessities that they are.
On a related note, I’ve figured it’s going to take three and a half years for the whole story to go through the monthly spellster series newsletter posting. I hope you readers are in for the long haul, it’s going to be five more months before there’s any sex, much less when we meet the guy above (and another year before the m/m scene, mwahahaha!).

Editing is going to be a bloody nightmare. Going to be on the lookout for several new beta readers once I’m done. Like somewhere at the start of the new year.
I’ve been eyeing two other chapters that are already over 4k and not done. I may or may not be split into four. It really depends on how big the sex scenes nestled within them get.
