If you’ve been following me for the while, you’ll be no stranger to how I’ve missed the mark for the end of In Pain and Blood… several times.
It started off as a modest layout of 35 chapters. Maybe 70,000 words long.
I passed 70k during NaNoWriMo… 2015. Yeah, I know.
During 2016, I spent large chunks of time writing it in between getting Golden Dawn and Dark One’s Mistress ready for their re-releases. I joined Camp NaNoWriMo for the first time that year, twice, to give me an added kick up the butt.
The 100k mark came some time in May.
I set a 150k goal and smashed it in October.
200,000 words was reached whilst I participated in NaNoWriMo 2016.
I took December off so, by the end of January, it was at 218k.
Now, it’s at 242k.
The story currently has almost 60 chapters. 40 are complete. Of those, the average word count is 4700. I managed 22k since the 6th, tracking it via a little site called WriteTrack, if I keep up the 1k a day average, then the end of March should see me getting me pretty close to finishing those remaining chapters.
Dude, I think it’s awesome you’re able to pound out that word count, even if it does mean that the size of the end result keeps growing and growing and growing… 😀

It’s those darn chapters. I think a set thing will happen within a set amount of words and it turns out I’m trying to cram two chapters into one. The good thing is though, that it also means I have chapters between the sexy-time.
