Weekend Writing Warriors – #8sunday

Even though I’m currently madly writing a fairytale novella, I’m continuing with the wip, To Poison a Prince, for snippets.

For those of you catching up… Darshan and Hamish are a pair of thirty-something princes from two vastly different lands who are now travelling through the ginormous Udynea Empire that Darshan is from on their way to the capital.

This one is carrying on from last week, where Darshan was trying to hurry Hamish.

Swallowing his mouthful of wine, Darshan returned to verbalising his complaints in the hopes that it would hasten his husband along. “It cannot be that much of a disaster.”

“Soon,” Hamish promised.

Darshan tapped a finger against the stem of his wine glass. Each clink of his ring gave off a different musical note, the variations added by him slowly lowering the level of the pale wine. “I want to see.”

What he actually wanted was to be free of this accursed city. If there was a place in all of the Udynea Empire that Darshan could hate more than the lakeside city of Nulshar, he hadn’t found it. As the slave capital of the empire, its main export was people and pain.

It was also the home of Onella, the eldest of his younger half-sisters; and his biggest annoyance.

Don’t forget to check out the other excerpts at Weekend Writing Warriors, Snippet Sunday or Rainbow Snippets.

Hamish is finally free to live with the man who won his heart.
If only someone didn’t keep trying to ruin his happily-ever-after.

  1. That doesn’t seem rejoicing at all. I’m wondering about the sister though, is she just annoying or is there more to her to make her level up to the slave trade.

  2. Sounds like a horrible place to be I can see why he wants to leave quickly. And I just adore your beautiful wording and descriptions! Love these two and their story so much, I’m dying to read the whole book when it’s finished!
