Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week and share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation.
It has been a very long time since I’ve posted on my blog. I know, last post was way back in September. Of all the things I’ve neglected in favour of writing, this is the worse. But I figured it’s time to hop back into this weekly schedule.
A few things have transpired. I’m now a USA Today Bestselling author, thanks to the box set, Once Upon Another World, hitting the list back in October 2020. To Target the Heart also made finalist in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards and, after wrangling the plot back into line, I am almost done with its sequel, To Poison a Prince. And that is the book I shall be snipping from today.
For those of you who are new or catching up… Darshan and Hamish are a pair of thirty-something princes from two vastly different lands. Their tale starts with them travelling through the ginormous Udynea Empire that Darshan is from on their way to the capital. In this piece, they are readying themselves for a soirée thrown by Darshan’s half-sister.
Darshan ran a hand up Hamish’s chest, still admiring the sight whilst mumbling to himself. “A bit more embroidery would have this looking immensely better, but that can’t be helped. Maybe I can have it done once we reach Rolshar.” He stroked along the overcoat’s collar in whispering glides, smoothing out the wrinkles and adjusting the toggles.
Hamish remained still, seemingly captivated by the movements.
Satisfied that no one would disturb them for a few moments, Darshan curled his fingers into the cool fabric. The topmost toggle popped open with a quick flick of his magic. Then the next.
The outfit parted like it was made for him alone to remove.
And there you have it. I’ll, hopefully, be back next weekend to share more of these two adorkable twits. In the meantime, check out these other snippets.

Welcome back!
And, um… If they’re getting ready for a party that involves more than the two of them I think they’re making backwards progress…
