Wow! I’m so over the moon. A little while back, I entered the Author Shout Reader Ready Awards. It's been part of my goal to enter as many contests and competitions as I could afford over the last few years. Yesterday, a little email popped up to tell me In Pain and Blood had won … Continue reading I got Author Shout “Recommended Read” twice!

Paperback of Dark One’s Bride
Usually, we get our mail quite late in the day, around 4pm. So, it's not often I'll be woken by someone announcing there's mail for me. But this morning was one of those happy days, bringing the proof of Dark One's Bride to my waiting hands. Or rather, my daughter's. You can watch the unboxing … Continue reading Paperback of Dark One’s Bride

Omg! It's finally time to reveal the cover for Dark One's Bride, the second in my Young Adult Gothic/Fantasy Romance. I'm not going to drag this out. I've been sitting on this (and am still sitting on the last cover) ever since I last revamped the cover for Dark One's Mistress. That's too long! And... Dark One’s Mistress (Dark One’s Trilogy 1) by Aldrea Alien and Meet the Character
It has been some years since Clarabelle Weaver bombarded me with her story, but with Dark One’s Bride due to come out later 2019, I thought it fitting for her to give us an interview.
A great re-telling of one of my favorite fairy tales.
The book is Dark One’s Mistress (Dark One’s Trilogy 1) by Aldrea Alien, a Young Adult Gothic Romance.
When you’ve spent all your life in the same quiet village, what is there to fear?
As Clarabelle Weaver passes her seventeenth year, she still lives under the protection and shadow of the Great Lord’s fortress. The lord’s men patrol the land and keep the villagers safe, but no one has seen or heard much from the lord himself for years.
Then the Great Lord passes and Clara is abducted and taken to the fortress that has overshadowed her entire life. Lucias, the new lord, is hunting for a woman to bear his heir and ensure the safety of the kingdom, and Clara is his choice.
With nowhere to run and no one to trust, Clara must match her will against…

Cover Makeover: Dark One’s Mistress
You might've noticed a few changes happening around my blog and website, or even other places on the web. Mostly the alteration of a certain bright red cover. That cover is no more. Dark One's Mistress has undergone its third cover change, the second by me alone after I self-published it. I quite liked its … Continue reading Cover Makeover: Dark One’s Mistress
When in Doubt, Send in the Assassins!
I first wrote a large chunk of Dark One's Bride way back in November of 2013, not long after Dark One's Mistress was originally published. Back then, it was the second of a duology. And, technically, complete. But it felt rushed, especially the second half which became Dark One's Wife. Whilst struggling on with a … Continue reading When in Doubt, Send in the Assassins!

Designing a Monstrous Book
When making my books available in paperback, the sizing I prefer to use is 5x8. It's a nice size to hold and close to most of the other small paperbacks gracing my shelves. But it does come with a limitation. Namely, it won't support a book that's too large without becoming a terribly unwieldy block. … Continue reading Designing a Monstrous Book
